Digital competencies are of crucial importance for innovation, growth and employment in the global economy. Nowadays these competencies are required of all citizens even of those not working in the field of ICT.
However not all possess the range of competencies which would enable them to use ICT in a critical, collaborative and creative manner. Such devices are used in everyday situations at work, in learning or leisure activities.
Therefore digital key competencies (for all citizens) and professional digital competencies (for ICT professionals) should be distinguished.
